Camp Winnamocka is looking for Awesome Counselors!

If you are reading this it means either that you were interested in becoming a Camp Winnamocka counselor or that someone has recommended you as a potential camp counselor at Camp Winnamocka for the summer of 2008! Please take the time to read a bit further and call us with any questions!

What the job entails: A fantastic summer spent with peer counselors influencing the lives of children from all over the United States between the ages of 7–15. Through imagination-driven games such as treasure hunts, water balloon wars, and blobbing to adventure challenges like the high ropes course, rockclimbing, and funyak river trips we shape, challenge, and teach our kids about teamwork, positive attitudes, and friendships rooted in respect.

We're flexible! With over 90% of our summer staff being college kids we are able to work around schedules such as May term and other summer conflicts. Also, even though our eight summer sessions run from June 4th – August 9th , counselors are able to work less than five sessions giving you weeks off to enjoy some free time. We also have several optional terms to work such as a Foster Teen Camp in June, activity days, and much more. The opportunities are endless and as flexible as you would like.

Do I need prior training? If hired, Camp Winnamocka will train you in all the necessary certifications to perform a job as a Winnamocka camp counselor... American Red Cross Lifeguarding, First Aid, CPR, and ropes course facilitator and instructor certifications just to name a few. If you already have some or all of these under your belt you've got a head start. If not, we will provide you with all the skills during our training weeks to make you a great counselor as well as give you wonderful resumé builders for the future.

What do I need to do? Call if you have any questions! Fill out the application and email it or mail it in to Camp Winnamocka. We'll set up an appointment for an interview and go from there!

It will be the most magical summer... this is not just any job! The experience of working at camp will be so rewarding - rewarding in lifelong friendships for you and rewarding in the fact that you will have the chance to influence, enhance, and work with the most important people... our children. To do all this and have fun is an experience in itself.

If you know of anyone that would have the personality, character, energy and attitude that would benefit our children please pass this information along!

Sincerely from Fort Jackson,

The Director Gang
Niki, Brent, Dex, and Spiker
