Nature

Outside and on to the "playground" is where many groups with teambuilding on their mind are finding themselves. The age of lecture halls, notepads, and lengthy classroom seminars are over for the most part. Bring your group to a half-day, day, or days of ropes at Camp Winnamocka. Groups all over are experiencing a our fantastic tool aimed at encouraging teamwork, communication skills, group pride, and trust.

Businesses, corporate groups, non-profit organizations, and school groups are participating in teambuilding challenges at Winnamocka. These challenges, referred to as low element ropes and initiatives, create learning situations that reflect real life experiences. Whether your goal is to enhance communication skills, leadership skills, goal-setting techniques, and/or boost teamwork and company or group morale Winnamocka's ropes course is the place to go. And instead of listening to hours of lectures about what you should be doing in the office or on the playing field, we focus immediately on your particular company or group, your actions, your goals, your team and discussing how it works. You will be doing all of these things while having a super time with each other.

Banks, television stations, Chamber of Commerce groups, Churches, health agencies, Basketball teams, Couple's groups, and hospitals are just some of the organizations that have experienced ropes at Winnamocka. Brent Jackson, an adventure instructor at Winnamocka says, "You would never think that a company or group would learn so much on a beautiful day in the woods. So much can be accomplished if you create the atmosphere to share, to talk about needs of a company, identify the problems, and set the goals for the future."

Remember:

You don't have to be an athlete!

Anyone can do ropes!

There are basically two types of ropes at Winnamocka- low element ropes and high element ropes. Groups can choose a variety of ropes course experiences. They can spend a half day on low element ropes, a full day of low element ropes, or a full day of first low element ropes, and then high element ropes. If a group is spending more than one day on ropes we can adjust the days as needed or distribute as needed.

High Element Ropes

The most unique high element ropes course begins out of the forty-five foot Swiss Family Treehouse. Those who wish to watch and encourage have a bird's eye view of the course by watching from the treehouse.

"Challenge by Choice" (Project Adventure) takes the front seat as each participant sets the goal of climbing to the second step on a ladder, or the top of a thirty-five foot pole. The high elements have an enormous effect on attitudes of pride, CHOICE (whether it is not to climb or to climb), new experiences and bonding with teammates.

The purposes of high element ropes are for goal-setting, self-confidence, and pride. Many people tend to set goals at levels easy to reach. High element ropes brings up the discussion of goal-setting, and positive attitudes. High elements encourage the mind set of expecting success and hence working for it, not simply hoping for it. "I hope I can get to the top of this pole," means one thing, while "I expect to get to the top of this pole," means another. The confidence gained and the fun had on a high element ropes course is well worth the experience.

Low Element Ropes

The Low Element Ropes Course at Winnamocka consists of several challenges that involve problem-solving, communication, listening to others needs, and teamwork. We customize these challenges for each individual group. Many challenges are not challenging physically, however challenging to the team in other aspects. "Challenge by Choice" (Project Adventure) is the key to Winnamocka's low element ropes course. Each individual sets his or her own limits in each individual initiative. This allows all to participate at their own pace while stepping a bit outside of their "comfort zone." Limits are set not by the group or instructor, but by each participant. Safety, instruction, and trusting guidance is given by our certified instructors.

The High Element Ropes Course at Winnamocka is an experience in itself. Harnessed participants, by their own choice, traverse logs, wires, ropes and cargo nets sometimes 35-feet in the air, or swing from a 450-foot zip line. A participant chooses their own routes, set their own limits and are constantly monitored, directed and supervised by a certified ropes instructor who is concerned first and foremost about safety while insuring the best experience for your group.
